Propylene Glycol and Vegetable Glycerin

Propylene Glycol and Vegetable GlycerinWhen it comes to vaping a flavorful electronic cigarette, most users think about the nicotine milligrams and eliquid flavors.  However, there is some more to the process than just blowing vape (as opposed to smoke).

On a web site such as www.ecigsbrand.com, the term, “PG” is listed with the products offered there.  What is does it mean?

PG is the base liquid that is vaporized when one inhales an electronic cigarette.  It stands for Propylene Glycol and is safe for those using an electronic cigarette. Any user who is allergic will have minor symptoms such as a dry throat, some muscles aches and cramps, or diarrhea.  Of course, if any of these symptoms occur after trying an electronic cigarette, a physician should be called as soon as possible.

Because some folks are allergic to a PG liquid, most electronic cigarette companies also offer a “VG” liquid.  VG stands for vegetable glycerin. There are very few side effects when vaping a VG liquid.

Supposedly, PG based liquids generates more flavor and the hit to the throat than vapor, whereas VG produces less flavor and more vapor.

Some folks actually mix their electronic cigarettes up a bit and split the difference between PG and VG so that the vaping provides a kick and flavorful blast finished off with a nice cloud of vapor.  It seems like a lot of work but once perfected, it could very be the perfect electronic cigarette for its user.

Additionally, when given the same flavor of juice in PG and VG form, the VG liquid had a more syrupy appearance to it.

Which one lasts longer?  Reports confirm that VG is longer lasting but the taste is a little diluted when compared to PG.  However, with its syrupy substance and components, VG does clog the electronic cigarette’s atomizer in a shorter span of time than the PG.

Neither VG nor PG is better than the other as it really is an individual’s taste for what works best for him or her.  The essential reminder is not what is being vaped in terms of liquid but what one considers the most safe.  A tobacco cigarette is far more harmful and has a lot less to offer than any PG or VG debate.
